We’ve talked about coconut before and it’s extremely beneficial effects and given you 6 Great Uses For Coconut Oil. Now let’s talk about how you can specifically use this superfood for a detox, cleanse, and even a weight loss supplement.
Most body detox and cleanse methods will involve drinking a lot of water, supplementing with something exotic, and waiting. This lather-rinse-repeat method of detox is common because it has one secret that the people selling it to you don’t want you to know: the water you’re drinking gallons of as part of their program is doing most of the work.
Of course, there are exceptions to this, but for the most part, that secret Chinese herb or that exotic-sounding supplement they charge you all that money for is doing very little. Of course, water alone doesn’t do a thorough cleanse or detox, it just gets the process started.
Most of the time, a real detox requires two specific things: removal of parasites and removal of wastes. Many things can do one or the other: vinegar, for instance, is great for putting many intestinal parasites down and out. Not many things, however, can help with both.
Coconut oil can do both. There are other things that can as well, of course, but they aren’t always as pleasant. Garlic and caster oil, for instance, can do both (though they aren’t as balanced as coconut), but neither is exactly tasty or pleasant.
The cleansing process itself is not very complex. It is, however, going to require some sacrifice for a few days to be complete. You’ll basically be sugar-fasting for about three days while taking coconut oil by the tablespoon (usually 2 at a time) for a total of 14 per day. You will also be drinking your normal amount of water, or as much as you need in order to not be thirsty—no coffee, milk, etc. Just water.
In fact, to optimize the process, you should limit your food intake to only raw foods and unsweetened, natural herb teas. So a lot of vegetables, fruits, and so forth, but no meats, breads, and other processed or (heavily) cooked foods are consumed.
During this time, you’ll likely have some gastro-intestinal discomfort for a day or two, but you will adjust quickly. Some people will have diarrhea or other problems, but this can be alleviated by simply “weaning onto” the coconut oil. This means taking lower doses before the detox begins, usually with meals. Do this for a few days and once you begin the cleanse, you will not likely have many problems other than perhaps gas.
What It Does
This cleanse will rid your body of a lot of its problem-causers. Digestive curses like irritable bowels and the gunk buildup that commonly lines much of our digestive tract will be cleared out.
Candida suffering, a common problem amongst adults who eat high-sugar or similar diets and a problem linked intimately with early onset diabetes and other maladies, will likely be cleared with a coconut oil detox. This is because of the medium fatty-acid chains in coconut wreaking havoc on the candida itself and helping to restore metabolism and thus insulin control.
Which brings us to the final bit. This coconut oil detox can quickly put you on track for a new weight loss phenomenon. When your body’s metabolism is restored and your sugar levels balanced, you’re likely to begin losing weight.
The losses won’t be dramatic or spectacular, with tens of pounds per week, but it will be steady and ongoing until you’ve reached your optimum weight for your metabolism.
A periodic cleansing, practiced maybe once a month until the body normalizes (weight, metabolism, etc. balance) and then every two or three months thereafter will greatly increase your health and well-being.
Of course, this isn’t the only answer to your needs, but it’s a very good part of a balanced way of living. Have you tried a coconut oil cleanse? Let us know how it was!
